Pilot Listener Reviews
(Jo Anderson’s interview is) a really interesting dive into human psychology. So many types of activism/advocacy and so many ways people can respond to them…Lots of great stuff covered there. Ideal for someone thinking about getting into activism. Well done.

Thank you for the preview episode (with Jo at Faunalytics)! I consider myself a reducetarian and the part about chickens and fishes really changed my thinking about the choices I make. I look forward to future episodes and learning more about how I can do less harm.
– Adrienne Hagan, Reducetarian
I loved your discussion of solutionary. Going beyond being a thoughtful consumer and finding avenues to participate in changing systems is so essential. Helping people find what fits for them makes so much sense. I look forward to more. What you are doing is important. You come from such a sincere, educated and inquisitive place it seems that your ability to connect with your listeners will be strong.
– Lisa Harrold, Omnivore
The research perspective is great (asking about if there’s research around what “flips the switch” so that advocates can focus their activism on what is suggested to work). You two both ask probing questions that clearly steer the conversation in the direction of how we can get more people to go vegan/vegetarian/reducetarian.

Listening to Solutionary Vegan gave me fresh insights, tools, and inspiration for compassionate advocacy. Solutionary Vegan takes its listeners, guests, and project seriously and still brings a joyful energy to the topic of animal protection. I can’t wait to hear and learn from more conversations with Jennifer and Ella!
This podcast introduces current activists to different resources and ideas in the realm of animal protection and shows would-be activists the open-heartedness of a group (vegans!) that can often present or be perceived as militant or inaccessible. The episode I listened to addressed both individual and systemic possibilities for changing human exploitation of animals. This episode calls in (not calls out) animal lovers to explore how their values and actions can continue to come into alignment in support of our fellow beings on this planet.
– Elena LIndstrom, MA Humane Education student, Vegan since 2/21!
It is clear that this podcast will help to reduce animal suffering through providing a critical analysis not just of what is/isn't effective in terms of animal advocacy, but also bridging gaps between different areas of advocacy and offering new insights and opportunities to connect for existing animal advocates. Yours is a friendly, welcoming approach that will also help people new to animal advocacy feel as though they are welcomed, needed, and that their strengths - whatever those may be - can be utilized to advocate on behalf of animals. The solutionary focus ensures that the harm reduction on behalf of animals is being approached in a thoughtful, meaningful, and effective way. I'm so excited to see (hear?) who else you bring on to discuss these topics. I enjoyed what I heard and am so stoked to see where you take this!
– Kyla Cruz, Educator, Vegan
This podcast reduces animal suffering in the short term and long term with episodes focusing on what works to support people re: behavioral change. If this one episode holds the ethos for all future episodes, then yes, I can anticipate this podcast can reduce animal suffering because there is education, inspiration, resources, and strategies to support change processes packed with this ONE episode. AND, we are able to explore individual and systems change here.
– Kristine Tucker, Educator, Vegan
This was a fantastic and intellectually stimulating conversation between people fluent in the issues, and passionate about effective data-driven advocacy. I never felt underestimated OR left behind, which isn't easy with a talk about research.
– Mary Pat Champeau, Institute for Humane Education, Vegan
Adding more advocatesl and making everyone more effective is a powerful combination to build our movement. The Solutionary Vegan team is bringing data-driven and best practices strategies to inspire and activate people to achieve more change. Their focus on systems and intersectional advocacy is timely as animal advocates are working on factory farming, climate change, COVID and other issues that bring together people from other movements. The podcasts are engaging and informative, thought-provoking and practical.
